The curriculum at Acacia House is carefully structured and planned from Toddler through to Kindergarten Two by specialist teachers. Through play and discovery, the curriculum covers the most important aspects of early childhood education identified by current early childhood educational research. Through early introduction children develop the confidence and competence to use appropriate technology to support their learning.
Literacy skills are developed through a whole language approach. Each classroom provides a literacy-rich environment where children are exposed to works of fiction and non-fiction, songs, conversation and print. Our teachers ensure children are given a sound foundation in phonics before moving to our graded reading scheme.
Our mathematics curriculum, designed in Singapore, uses oral and written language to help children gain a firm understanding of mathematical concepts and skills. Through hands-on experience, they are also introduced to symbolic language and relationships.
Developed over 15 years by professors of theatre and language and early childhood professionals from Beijing. Our Mandarin programme engages children through poems, songs, language games and stories to develop a love for the language as well as high standard of spoken and written Chinese.
Physical education, cookery, science, art, music and drama are all important aspects of our curriculum as we provide a well-rounded experience for children. These subjects are integrated into daily or weekly activities for all children.
